Well? It is a terrible beer. And even a cretin knows Aspartame™ causes cancer in laboratory rats.

Yeah I cannot stop enjoying DDC beers, they have a lot of soul!!

The following predictions are really wishes for 2010.

1. More California West Coast IPA beers at the LCBO (Stone, Alesmith, Green Flash, etc).

2. Homebrewing takes off in the GTA

Just a quick question (that's a little tangential but related):

Has LCBO taken Dieu du Ciel's Peche Mortel completely off the shelves? or Can i expect to see it sometime soon?

I read somewhere in the forum that the beer was recalled due to a bottle cap policy (or what not), but when I search it from the LCBO site, it's got the the word, discontinued beside the availabiltiy. I was wondering if anyone here knew.

"Discontinued" is routinely placed after products that are brought in as seasonals (as was the case with the Peche) have seen their last seasonal shipment delivered to the LCBO warehouse. Doesn't mean that it won't be back - more like a "discontinued - for now" designation. IIRC, the bottecap issue was solved near-instantaneously, and wasn't really an issue. If you search on the LCBO site under a specific city (i.e. Toronto - Central), you'll see that there is some stock left, but not much. More to be had in other zones, though.

A certain maverick Importer will get one or more Stone beers accepted for the LCBO Seasonal releases to follow in 2011.

Oh yeah - and Propeller Porter is submited & makes the 2009 Fall Beers release! (Aren't you guys drinking barrels of the Propeller ESB whenever you find it???)

Last time i checked Summerhill LCBO had some - however, this was 2 weeks ago. On another note, I stopped by bar Volo for the first time and saw that they had it on tap! It was delicious.

Hmm... ya i think i was a bit late on that train. I called Summerhill about a week ago, and they didn't have any. Consequently, i just had an aventinus ice bock (instead), which i enjoyed QUITE a bit... although enjoying the beer did include me accidentally slipping and breaking my roommate's plate...

As far as bar volo is concerned, thanks for letting me know =) Mebbe i'll head down and try a pint.

1. More 'fake' craft brands from the majors.

2. Something like an 'easy drinking' Keiths coffee porter made by mixing Blue Lite with real Tim Horton's coffee.

3. More low end swill from South America being sold as premium product here.

4. Recession busting special cases of 29 Bud. With a commemorative ball cap.

5. An awesome new summer eyewear collection and talking bottle opener being released at the BS.

Oh and...

I am predicting/hoping that the trickle of new beers from the East Coast and Quebec will attract enough demand for the LCBO to consider more beers from other provinces. It's high time we got some of the fantastic beers from B.C.

Unfortunately we may have to continue to put up with Okanagan and soon probably Granville Island (due to Creemore tie up) beers for a while.
Philips, Spinnaker, Tree or Speedway could probably do very well in Ontario.

Peche Mortel is a great beer when you can pick up a six-pack in Quebec or a few bottles at the LCBO, but it goes up into my top few Canadian beers when served on tap. Definitely seek that out if possible.
