Geez, I seem to be churning out more content from other cities rather than Toronto!

Anyway, I'm back from a great trip down east and have put togther a little report on the beer scene in Halifax. You can find it here:

Gee Cass, what about all the Alexander Keith's India Pale Ale.....

Is it as popular there as it is here? If you manage to go to Garrisons, look up Dave Schlichter the brewer. He's a real good guy and quite a character.

I actually did the Keith's tour on a lark when I was in Halifax. Well, no, not on an actual lark but . . . anyway. It was certainly amusing. More like Disneyland than a brewery. All the tour guides were in costume and there was the promise of Mr. Keith arrival. Sadly he never showed. The Show ended in a cavern/tavern with plenty o' games, song, and good cheer in the form of Keith's lite. A nice cool, refreshing IPA lager without all that nasty bitterness.

Yes I do hope Keith's can begin brewing a stout without all that darkness and bitterness and perhaps a Scottish ale without all that dang maltiness too! How people confuse their IPA for a piss poor Canadian lager is beyond me!

But seriously...Cass glad to hear the brew pubs actually had their beers available when you visited. When I hit the Roost and Granite on my last trip to Halifax in September (Film Festival) both places had at least two of their taps empty due to shortages or other problems. I found the Plum really disappointing...smoky, dirty and a real poor selection considering the number of taps.
